I want to open each post about my daily supplements saying “This is my favorite”, but they are all my favorites otherwise I wouldn’t be talking about them, right?! Anyway, the second supplement I wanted to talk to you about in this little mini series is Candex.
Candex was introduced to me by my boyfriend’s sister, Kara. For the past few years, she has been a raw vegan, nutritionist and my personal health guru (I even interviewed her here). A few years ago, I went to her because I was getting migraines all the time. If I had one glass of wine, migraine. Cried, migraine. Didn’t drink enough water, migraine. You get it. Also, I developed a weird rash patch on my skin and had absolutely no idea what was causing it. Basically, I was falling apart. Recently, I developed another random rash on my arms and decided to get back on the Candex regime.
Kara let me know that my symptoms may be caused by a yeast overgrowth. Sounds super gross, but the “yeast monster” is everywhere! We have antibodies to help control the yeast, but sometimes when our immune systems get weakened, overgrowth can happen. Yeast overgrowth can cause many problems from depression and allergies to migraines and UTI’s. Even mystery rashes, apparently! Now, I don’t claim to be a doctor (talk to yours if you have questions), but I swear taking Candex and watching my diet have helped tremendously. Yeast survive off of sugar and simple carbs (anything white). I simply stay away from foods that are going to feed the yeast monster and supplement with Candex twice a day (two pills when I wake up, two before bed). This is a supplement you don’t have to take everyday for the rest of your life. I use it to control my symptoms whenever I feel they are flaring up (i.e. when I notice I’m getting migraines more frequently or I get mystery rashes). Make sure to read the instructions before diving in. You are supposed to build up your dosage – do not jump into taking four pills a day. You have no idea how you are going to react, so be smart and start slow!
After starting this supplement routine (I like this brand) again recently, I can drink wine without my head exploding and my mystery arm rash is starting to fade away. I will continue to take Candex until my symptoms go away completely, then I will stop the supplements and simply maintain a healthy diet by limiting my sugar/simple carb intake. If you want Kara’s advice (she is super helpful and happy to answer any questions you may have) just follow her on Instagram, Snapchat (@poporganic) or email her your questions firstname.lastname@example.org. She is super new to the social media game and in the process of creating a dope all natural company, so keep an eye out!
